The Kops nightmare continues for Atletico Madrid as they were trashed once again at Anfield stadium.

Diego Simeone’s men travelled to Anfield with the hope of salvaging their reputation having lost to Liverpool at home in the first leg of the Champions League group stage.

But they were humbled by Jurgen Klopp inspired Liverpool team.

In what was expected to be a fierce contest between the two teams, Liverpool were quick to find a way round the aggressive Atletico Madrid after a Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross met Diogo Jota who headed the ball into the net.

Liverpool’s charge kept waxing stronger as Rodrigo De Paul nearly cost his team another goal after a defensive blunder.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder went further to foul Sadio Mane in the 21st minutes, but that did not stop the Senegalese forward to chip in another Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross, making it 2 for Liverpool.

With 2 goals down within the space of 25 minutes, Atletico Madrid lost their bearing as they became more aggressive on the pitch, the effect of which led to the dismissal of Felipe after being shown a red card by the referee.

The Brazilian defender had brought down Sadio Mane in the 36th minutes- a foul he would have picked up just a yellow card.

But the referee dished out a red card after the defender ignored his call.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez, also bagged a yellow card alongside Koke after both players complained to referee regarding the red card incident.

The former Liverpool striker became an object of ridicule for Liverpool fans who booed and jeered whenever he touches the ball.

The second half saw two disallowed goals from both team. Luis Suarez tried to put his team back on track after he found the back of the net in the 57th minutes.

But his effort was ruled offside by VAR.

The win against Atletico Madrid made it 12 points for Liverpool as they sit first on the table having won all four matches played so far.

On the other hand, Atletico Madrid sit 3rd amassing just four points in all four matches played.
