As predicted by many, the incumbent lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Adegoke Benson has clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek a third consecutive term.
Benson, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Defense, overwhelmingly won the APC Reps primary which took place on Friday at the Ita-Elewa Mini Stadium in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The federal lawmaker polled 89 votes to beat his only rival, Mistura Afolake Ajisebutu — the daughter of the late political leader in Ikorodu, Alhaji Mufutau Ajisebutu — who had just one vote.
Benson was first elected in 2015 and later re-elected in 2019, and now seeking a third consecutive term in office at the 2023 elections.
The 50-year-old politician was recently honoured with a chieftaincy title, the Otun of Ikorodu Division, in recognition of his many achievements since he assumed office.
