By Breaking: Iwobi gets brace as Nigeria stuns Argentina in World Cup friendly
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have made a statement to other competitors that it wont be business as usual at next year’s World Cup in Russia. This is as the team defeated top favorites, Argentina moments ago in a World Cup friendly which held in Russia.
Despite a shaky start which saw the Nigerian side go down two goals in the first half, the team picked up momentum after Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho returned a goal just before the end of the first half.
The Super Eagles however took charged in the second half scoring three additional goals to the shock of the South Americans who were without their star player Lionel Messi.
Although the Argentines with top players like Sergio Aguero and Di Maria dominated the game in possession, Nigeria did the scoring with Arsenal whizkid, Alex Iwobi getting a brace (44 & 73mins) while Iheanacho and Idowu also got a goal each.
The game held at the Krasnodar Stadium in Russia.
