Tyson Fury has predicted a knockout victory over Anthony Joshua when the two British heavyweight stars finally meet on December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Fury, speaking for the first time since the long-awaited bout was confirmed, said he expects to stop Joshua inside six or seven rounds and described the fight as a stepping stone towards a third meeting with Oleksandr Usyk.
“I’m just going to knock him out, 100 per cent,” Fury said on the Furocity YouTube channel.
“I’m going to box the head off him and stop him inside six or seven rounds. I’m only using Joshua as a stepping stone, a warm-up to Usyk.”
The former heavyweight champion also took aim at Joshua’s physical style, questioning his speed and stamina.
“Joshua, for me, is an old bum. A weightlifter. Too many weights, not enough speed. Too many weights, no cardio. So I will cut through him like a hot knife through butter,” he said.
Fury also made clear that he remains interested in a trilogy with Usyk after their two previous encounters in 2024, both of which ended in points victories for the Ukrainian.
The Fury-Joshua showdown was officially confirmed on September 24 after years of failed negotiations. The all-British heavyweight clash will take place at the Principality Stadium and is scheduled to be streamed globally on Netflix.
Fury enters the fight with a stated professional record of 36 wins, two defeats and one draw, while Joshua has 30 wins and four defeats, according to the World Boxing Council.
The two fighters are expected to begin the public build-up to the bout with a press conference in London on September 30.
