In their quest to bolster the existing squad, Newcastle United have indicated readiness to land Manchester United midfielder, Jesse Lingard at all costs.

The Magpies had recently secured the service of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, but that does not seem enough to keep their Premier League hope alive. Thus, they are keen on bringing the Englishman to the St. James Park.

According to Inside Futbol, Lingard has emerged as Newcastle’s top target in the last ten days of the window and they have already failed with a loan bid for him. The relegation-threatened club are willing to do everything possible to get the service of the 28-year-old in addition to their attacking side which recently saw the inclusion of Chris Wood from Burnley.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United will not be the first Premier League club to show interested in the Manchester United forward. The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham also made advances but United turned down the offer of both clubs. With Lingard’s contract bound to expire by the summer, Newcastle might stand a chance to sign the player and Man United might be willing to let go of him by then.

Though Lingard is also intrigued by Newcastle’s offer as the club are willing to pay him big wages providing they signed him up this month, but the player still need more conviction about a move to the North East club.

Sky Sports reported that Manchester United would prefer a permanent move for the midfielder and Newcastle are likely to secure his service. But the Magpies’ relegation status might leave the deal hanging in the balance. A loan deal would have favored both parties with Lingard guaranteed of more playing time while Newcastle will have an attack-minded player who can possibly take them out of the relegation zone without much risk attached.
