Chelsea F.C. have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior following a dismal run of results that left the club mired in one of the worst scoring droughts in its history.
The Premier League side confirmed the decision on Wednesday, bringing an abrupt end to Rosenior’s tenure just over three months after his appointment. His exit comes after a string of poor performances, including multiple consecutive defeats without scoring, a run widely described as the club’s worst in more than a century.
Chelsea’s struggles were underlined by a heavy loss in their most recent outing with Brighton, which proved to be the final straw for the club’s hierarchy.
Despite early optimism surrounding his appointment, Rosenior was unable to steady results or revive the team’s attacking output.
In a brief statement, the club said performances had fallen “below expectations,” necessitating a change in leadership as the season approaches its decisive phase.
Assistant coach Calum McFarlane has been placed in interim charge, with the club expected to begin the search for a permanent replacement immediately.
Rosenior’s departure marks the second managerial change at Stamford Bridge this year, highlighting ongoing instability within the club’s technical setup. He had only recently taken over following the exit of his predecessor earlier in 2026, but mounting pressure from results and fan dissatisfaction accelerated his departure.
Chelsea now face the challenge of salvaging their season under interim leadership, with supporters hoping a change in the dugout can spark a late turnaround.
