Nigerian Afrobeat star, David Adeleke, known as Davido, has reached an agreement to settle out of court over a breach of contract lawsuit filed against him by Brownhill Investment Company Limited, led by former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick.

It was gathered that in October 2023, Pinnick accused Davido of failing to fulfill his performance obligations at the ‘Warri Again’ concert in Delta State, despite receiving $94,600.

The lawsuit, seeking N2.3bn in damages, was filed before the Delta State High Court.

The claim alleged that Davido breached the contract by not performing at the event after being paid. Brownhill Investment Company Limited sought N150m for legal fees and N30m for filing the suit against Davido.

After negotiations, the two parties agreed to resolve the matter outside the courtroom.

The High Court in Delta State approved their request, with Davido agreeing to pay Brownhill Investment Company Limited N30 million within seven days.

As part of the settlement, Davido will perform at the upcoming ‘Warri Again’ concert on October 4, 2024. The $94,500 previously paid to Davido will be considered payment for the event’s performance.

Also, Davido will post a statement on his social media platforms acknowledging the resolution of the dispute and confirming his participation in the 2024 concert.

“All issues regarding ‘Warri Again 2023 concert’ have been settled between Mr. Amaju Pinnick and myself, and I am happy to announce that I shall be performing live at the ‘Warri Again 2023 concert’ on 4th October, 2024 in Warri, Delta state,” part of the proposed statement reads.

It is uncertain at the time of filing this report whether Davido will fulfill part of his agreement by posting on his social media handles as nothing shows on his page, as checked by BlackBox Nigeria.
