Aregbesola mocks Oyetola over defeat at Osun guber poll

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has reacted to the outcome of the just-concluded governorship election in Osun State.

Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of hotly-contested poll. Adeleke polled 403,371 to defeat his old rival, the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who secured 375,027.

The development marks the end of the road for Oyetola as his bid to occupy the Oke-Fia Government House for another four years hit the rocks.

Reacting to the outcome of the poll, Aregbesola, a former governor of the state, dropped a cryptic message on social media, in what may be a considered a swipe at his embattled predecessor whose re-election bid he had publicly opposed.

Though Oyetola won his polling unit, the minister who controls a faction of the Osun APC boycotted the election, and was reported to have travelled abroad.

Moments after Adeleke was declared winner, Aregbesola posted a line from a popular Yoruba folksong and a Bible verse on his Facebook page on Sunday morning.

He wrote, “Osun Le Tente.

“This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” – (Daniel 4:17)”.
