The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has limited chances to win the 2023 elections.
Obi was the running mate to the former Vice President in the 2019 presidential elections under the PDP. The former Anambra State governor, however, defected from the opposition party to the Labour Party. His presidential campaign enjoys a strong support base on social media, especially from young Nigerians.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Arise TV aired on Friday morning, Atiku noted that the Labour Party does not have governors, members of the National Assembly and State Assemblies.
“It will take a miracle for Labour Party with no structure in the grassroots to win the election,” he said.
“It is very difficult to expect a miracle to happen, simply because Peter Obi is in the Labour Party. After all, they were saying through social media, they had more than one million votes in Osun state.
“But how many votes turned for the Labour Party? And then again, mark you, you’re talking about social media. In the North, 90 percent of our people are not tuned to social media.”
Obi had, however, insisted that the 100 million Nigerians living in poverty make up his political structure.
“Those people who are finding it difficult to live. Nigerians are here today spending over 100% of their money on feeding, that is my structure. And above all, the most important structure is the Almighty God,” he said on Thursday after meeting Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.
