Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ to Be Buried in Ilaro Monday

The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced arrangements for his burial in Ilaro, Ogun State.

Ogogo, who died on Sunday at the age of 66, will be buried in his hometown following a special prayer session scheduled for Monday.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko announced the burial arrangements in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

According to Kosoko, Ogogo’s remains will be taken to Ilaro on Sunday, while a special prayer session will be held at the Ilaro Pavilion at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 24.

Kosoko said, “With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today, Sunday, 23rd August 2026, at 66 years.”

He added that the prayer session would take place at the pavilion in Ilaro at 11 a.m.

Ogogo’s death was earlier announced by one of his daughters, Kira Taiwo, during an Instagram Live session on Sunday.

The actor had reportedly been battling stage-four cancer before his death.

His passing has since triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans, with actors including Saidi Balogun, Kunle Afolayan, Odunlade Adekola, Jaiye Monje and Wumi Toriola mourning the veteran performer.

Kosoko, in his statement, prayed for Allah to grant Ogogo eternal rest and give his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry and built a decades-long career in Nollywood.
