Singer Rema begs ASUU to call off strike, says he is yet to resume UNILAG

Fast rising Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend its ongoing strike action.

Public universities across the nation have been shut for almost two months, forcing thousands of students to stay home, as ASUU continues to engage the Federal Government to meet its demands.

Rema, who recently gained admission to study Creative Arts at the University of Lagos, urged the striking lecturers to reconsider the industrial action.

In a tweet shared on his verified Twitter page on Monday, Mavin Record label signee lamented that he is yet to resume school because of the strike.

“ASUU, since dem give me admission I neva start school o, e don do nau!,” he wrote.

It would be recalled that the 21-year-old singer earlier in the year announced that he was returning back to school to bag a degree, adding that his mum influenced his decision.

“What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag? Lol, Mom said I still need to get a degree. oh well, see you guys in class!,” he tweeted at the time.
