Colombian sensational pop singer, Shakira, and Spanish footballer, Gerard Pique, has called time on the relationship between them. The relationship which spanned 12 years, was blessed with two kids in between.
Shakira met the Barcelona defender and Manchester United academy graduate during promotional tours for the 2010 World Cup.
Their relationship came under intense scrutiny after recent reports by El Periodico, a Spanish news outlet, of Pique’s infidelity of having a romantic affair with a student who also is a hostess.
The couple’s split was announced through a joint statement released by Shakira’s public relations firm on Saturday, stating they are separating for the well-being of their children.
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy.
“Thank you for your understanding,” the statement reads.
