Special Adviser to Governor Bababgana Zulum of Borno on Media, Isa Gusau, has explained that his principal embarked on the Wednesday ill-fated trip, based on prior information provided by soldiers.
Boko Haram had yesterday attacked the convoy of the governor, on his way to some Internally Displaced Persons camps in Munguno from Baga, making everyone scamper for their lives.
Gusau, in an interview on BBC Hausa Service today, Thursday, however said Governor Zulum and his team were in good condition.
Although the spokesman said he was not in the convoy, he stressed that the soldiers had assured the Governor that Baga town is no longer under the control of the insurgents.
Gusau explained that policemen; government officials and others in the convoy, crawled for a distance on their knees, and sustained injuries, while the Boko Haram fighters were shooting.
