The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed political organiser Ayodeji Rilwan Tinubu as a member of its Special Duties Sub-Committee (Diaspora) ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to a comprehensive list published by The Nation, the appointment comes as the party strengthens its campaign structures and diaspora mobilisation ahead of the Lagos governorship contest.

Tinubu, popularly known as ART, is the Director-General and Convener of Lagos Diaspora for Hamzat 2027, a political support group campaigning for Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat.

In May, Tinubu represented the group at a London press conference where Lagosians in the diaspora publicly declared their support for Hamzat’s 2027 governorship bid.

The group said it was prepared to mobilise Lagosians across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

His new role in the APC campaign council places his diaspora mobilisation experience within the party’s formal campaign structure.

Tinubu has also been active in Lagos grassroots politics. He was among the names listed as a chairmanship aspirant for Lagos Mainland during the APC’s 2025 local government election process.

His political activities have also included youth and community engagement. In December 2024, he organised the ART 25 five-a-side football tournament in Lagos Mainland, which attracted more than 300 young participants.

More recently, Tinubu has remained active in the Hamzat campaign structure, including backing the appointment of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as Director-General of Hamzat’s 2027 campaign organisation.

The latest appointment effectively gives Tinubu a formal role in the APC’s diaspora-focused campaign operations as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
