The Yoruba movie industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actor, filmmaker and comedian Adeshina Okiki Oshin, popularly known as Janmole.

News of his passing emerged on Monday after an Ibadan-based radio station, Success FM, announced the development in a social media post, describing the actor as a multi-talented entertainer whose contributions to the Yoruba film industry would be remembered for years to come.

Confirming the death, TAMPAN president, Bolaji Amusan released press statement on Tuesday describing the actor’s death as a great loss to the industry.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of his death had not been officially disclosed. Reports indicated that family members and colleagues were yet to issue a detailed statement on the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Janmole was a familiar face in the Yoruba movie industry, where he built a reputation as an actor, comedian and filmmaker. Known for his energetic performances and comic roles, he featured in several Yoruba-language productions and skits that earned him a loyal following among movie lovers, particularly in the South-West.

The late actor was widely recognised for his role in the popular Yoruba comedy film Janmole, from which he derived his stage name. Over the years, he appeared in numerous indigenous movies alongside established stars in the Yoruba film sector, becoming known for his humorous delivery and relatable portrayals of everyday characters.
