A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, has demanded an explanation from the management of Umaisha General Hospital in Toto Local Government Area over the whereabouts of items he donated to the facility.
Sa’ad, who represents the Umaisha/Ugya constituency, raised the issue during a recent visit to the hospital after reportedly discovering that the items were no longer where he expected them to be.
The lawmaker said he had donated more than 50 ceiling fans, about 40 standing fans and 50 orthopaedic mattresses to improve conditions for patients and healthcare workers at the hospital.
A video circulating online showed Sa’ad questioning hospital officials and demanding to know the whereabouts of the donated items.
“Where are they? Why are you lying to me?” the visibly angry lawmaker was heard asking in the video.
He also questioned a doctor about the orthopaedic mattresses, saying he had previously been told that the mattresses were kept in the hospital store.
“How can you tell me this is the mattress I bought? Can you show the mattresses I bought? I bought them for my people,” he said.
Sa’ad further demanded an explanation for the absence of the ceiling and standing fans, insisting that the items were purchased with his personal funds for the benefit of residents using the facility.
“Where are the ceiling fans? I bought more than 50 ceiling fans. Standing fans, I bought about 40,” he said.
The incident has generated reactions online, with some reports alleging that hospital staff sold the donated items.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of Umaisha General Hospital and the Nasarawa State health authorities had not publicly responded to the allegations or provided a detailed account of the donated items.
Sa’ad has previously been reported to have undertaken humanitarian interventions in his constituency.
In March 2025, he distributed relief materials reportedly worth N55 million to constituents, including rice, JAMB forms, clothing, mosquito nets and cash grants for women.
