Lateef Adedimeji wins AMVCA award for ‘Lisabi’

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has emerged winner of the Best Indigenous Movie (West Africa) category at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for his movie Lisabi.

The award was announced during the 12th edition of the AMVCA held on Saturday night at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, where some of Africa’s biggest film stars gathered to celebrate excellence in film and television.

Adedimeji, who has enjoyed a successful awards season with the historical epic, dedicated the award to his wife, actress Mo Bimpe Adedimeji, during his acceptance speech.

“To the woman who just gave me my kings, this award is dedicated to her,” the actor said, referencing the recent birth of their triplets.

The actor’s film Lisabi has continued to receive widespread recognition within the Nigerian movie industry, further cementing Adedimeji’s reputation as one of Nollywood’s leading indigenous filmmakers.

The AMVCA ceremony also saw several other stars clinch major awards, including Uzor Arukwe, who won Best Lead Actor, and Linda Ejiofor, who secured Best Lead Actress.
