Lagos LG Election: GAC Orders Direct Primary, Only Bariga LCDA Chairman Gets Automatic Ticket

In what appeared a political move ahead of the forthcoming local government election in Lagos State, the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have opted for a direct primary for aspirants across all positions.

The body took the decision on the prompting of the GAC Chairman and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during its meeting on Tuesday, 20 April, 2021, The Gazelle News.com reported.

The GAC decided that all aspirants for chairmanship and councillorship aspirants including the incumbents seeking reelection would go through a direct primary involving all members of the party.

According to the medium, this was largely due to allegations of underperformance leveled against most of the serving council chairmen in the state.

In a similar development, the body also resolved to return the Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area, Kolade David Alabi because of his exalted position as the National President of the All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON).
