The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the forthcoming Ward C3 bye-election in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shotayo Samiat Adebisi, has received the backing of the council chairman, Hon. Seyi Jakande, as she seeks to succeed her late sister, Hon. Zainab Adeshewa Shotayo, who previously represented the ward as councillor.

The former councillor died late last year in August 18 following a brief illness that later took her live.

Succeeding her sister, Shotayo was formally presented to Jakande on Tuesday at his office by the APC Chairman in the LCDA, Hon. Ismail Kazeem Babatunde (Tunkaz), alongside the Ward C3 APC Chairman, Mr. Segun Atitebi.

The bye-election is being held to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former councillor, who was also Shotayo’s sister.

Receiving the APC candidate, Jakande described her as a credible choice for the position and expressed confidence in her ability to continue the legacy of representation in Ward C3.

“I welcome Hon. Shotayo Samiat Adebisi and congratulate APC Ward C3 on presenting a credible candidate. This administration will continue to work with all elected representatives to deliver good governance and dividends of democracy to our people. I wish her success at the polls,” he said.

The council chairman urged the candidate to run an issue-based campaign focused on the needs of residents and the development of the ward.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, free and credible electoral process, assuring stakeholders that the bye-election would be conducted in an atmosphere of fairness and respect for democratic values.

With the APC’s endorsement and the support of local party leaders, Shotayo is expected to contest the election as she seeks to take over the seat previously occupied by her late sister and continue serving the people of Ward C3.
