World’s richest person, Elon Musk has dismissed talks that he was serious about buying Premier League side, Manchester United.
Fans of the struggling club had taken to Twitter to lament their poor performance of late, and the Tesla CEO offered succour by expressing interest in a potential takeover.
“I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” he tweeted in the early hours of Wednesday.

Though Musk didn’t offer details, the tweet immediately sparked mixed reactions from Manchester United supporters.
But when asked by a tweep if he was indeed buying the club, the SpaceX boss said he was only joking.
“No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams,” he replied.
The billionaire, however, added that if decides to acquire any football club, it would be Manchester United because they were his favourite club in his growing-up years.
“Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav (sic) team as a kid.”
