It was a heartwarming moment in Gbaji-Yeke Community area of Badagry during the Local Government Chairmanship and Councilorship Elections yesterday, July 24, 2021, when Mr Solomon Saanu Bonu, Special Adviser on Tourism to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, out of his magnanimity decided to fix the leaking roof belonging to a widow in the area.

Sharing the effort via a post on Facebook, Mr Bonu disclosed the people of the area who were thrilled by the gesture and reciprocated by delivering a block vote to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The SA on Tourism revealed that it was his act of goodness that got APC the votes that resulted in the party’s victory yesterday. In his words, ” I noticed a dilapidated building of widow that house 6 people, I quickly called for the reconstruction of the roofing. Before the process of the Local Government Election began, we were able to re-roof the building to a standard.”


He further disclosed that ” People seriously prayed for Mr Gov. Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr Hamzat for given me the opportunity to serve the state and mankind. To God be the glory. Let us give helping hands.”

Chairmanship Election results:
APC: 273
PDP: 22
Void: 5
Total: 300 votes

Councillor Election results:
APC: 271
PDP: 22
Void: 7
Total: 300 votes.
