Former LASUSU President, “Optimist” Gets International Honour

A former President of the Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU), Nurudeen Temilola Yusuf, also known as Optimist, has bagged an international recognition.

He was selected for Virtual Accountability Incubator for 2021, a group of young change-makers with great ideas for open government, transparency and accountability related to COVID-19 and broader social accountability issues in Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mexico, Niger, Nigeria, Nepal, Pakistan, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Having won the 2020 Accountability Lab innovation challenge, through the incubator, the lawyer will be developing The Pro Bono Centre, an initiative that provides pro-bono legal services to victims of injustice including those who have been wrongfully incarcerated.

Accountability Lab is a global translocal network that makes governance work for people by supporting active citizens, responsible leaders and accountable institutions.

Nurudeen, who was LASUSU President in 2014, is presently a Senior Associate at the Legal Hub Partnership. He is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association Young Lawyers Forum, Ikeja Branch.
