Confusion as woman claims King Sunny Ade is her biological father

Juju maestro, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, professionally known as King Sunny Ade has made headlines after he was called out by a 52-year-old woman, Elizabeth Ayeni who claimed that the singer is her biological father.

According to FIJ, Ayeni said her mother, Funmilayo Olakunle narrated how the veteran musician whom she met while on a trip impregnated her in 1970, and that she had to keep the baby since she lost contact with him.

“After giving birth to me, she left me with her parents, and I grew up without mother and father. It was recently that I decided to find out where I descended from, so I asked my mother,” she was quoted as saying by the news platform.

She further stated that all efforts to meet her father proved abortive, though he once promised to contact her during their phone call two years ago.

Recounting her encounter with King Sunny Ade, Ayeni’s mother, Olakunle said she met the Juju maestro sometime in 1970 at a restaurant in Ondo State where he paid for her meal.

She said, “Afterwards, he requested that we make out. I told him that my menstrual cycle had lapsed three days before our meeting and my chances of getting pregnant were high.

“He allayed my fears and told me not to worry. We had unprotected sex, and I continued with Olu on the journey. A month after, I discovered I had missed my period.”

Despite efforts by the Gani Fawehinmi Human Rights Foundation (GFHRF), it was said that the 75-year-old musician has refused to make himself available for a DNA test to confirm the paternity of his ‘daughter’.
