The ongoing call for justice for a young lady who was denied being Call to Bar last week has opened yet more can of worms. The lady, Firdaus Abdulsalam was barred after she refused to remove her Hijab for the ceremony.

The development which have caused rife debates on the social media has led to supposedly marginalised former student of Lagos State University to voice their reservations over command that they take Islamic principles and Law for a period of two years.

According to the write up by the Lagos Lawyer, he disclosed that himself and other Christians were forced to study a course that was against their Faith. He added that more units were even apportioned to the courses which makes it important to pass or either be withdrawn, as failure will amount to deduction of the student’s Grade Point.

The writer simply identified as I.K.A revealed that protests by Christians of the Faculty resulted to some lecturers telling them nothing will be done about it. He added that if the lady at the centre of the Hijab impasse is to get justice by being allowed to wear her Hijab for the ceremony, then Christians in LASU should also be left out in the study of Islamic Law.

Findings by BlackBox Nigeria however revealed that the compulsion of Islamic Principles and Law for all students of Faculty of Law is limited to Lagos State University only as responses from Lawyers who studied in other tertiary institutions stated that it was optional in their campuses. Attempts to speak with lecturers of the Faculty of Law proved abortive as none were ready to speak on the matter.
