A diamond necklace that once belonged to Egypt’s former Queen Nazli has been reported stolen from a museum exhibition in Vienna, Austria.
The jewellery, which is believed to contain 673 diamonds, has been placed on the International Criminal Police Organisation’s (INTERPOL) Stolen Works of Art database after Austrian authorities reported its disappearance.
INTERPOL announced the listing on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in a post on X.
According to the international police organisation, the necklace was taken from an exhibition at Vienna’s Museum of Applied Arts and has now been circulated internationally to aid efforts to locate and recover it.
INTERPOL also confirmed the necklace’s royal history, stating that it “once belonged to Queen Nazli of Egypt.”
Nazli was the wife of King Fuad I and served as Egypt’s queen consort from 1919 until the country’s monarchy was abolished in 1953.
The INTERPOL database is used by law enforcement agencies around the world to identify stolen artworks, antiques and other culturally significant objects.
The listing of the necklace is expected to assist authorities in tracing the valuable piece and preventing its possible sale or movement across borders.
