Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed never to forgive the All Progressives Congress for what he described as an attack on his family at its “weakest” moment.
Bashir, in a post on X, said that even if his father emerged from his ongoing ordeal with the grace and forgiveness associated with Mahatma Gandhi, he would personally not forget what he believes the APC did to his family.
He wrote, “Even if my father emerges from his ordeal like Gandhi and forgives and forgets, I won’t.”
Bashir further said he would seek political power with the specific aim of retaliating against those within the APC whom he accused of turning against his family.
“I will acquire power somehow for the sole reason of terrorising those (APC) that attacked like wolves upon my family at our weakest. Friend or foe, it won’t matter,” he said.
He, however, made an exception for one of his brothers, Mahmud Ribadu, whom he identified as his “biological brother.”
“Only @mahmudribadu will be spared. That one is my biological brother. Everyone else is fair game,” Bashir added.
His latest outburst comes amid a public fallout within the El-Rufai family.
On Friday, Bashir had launched a scathing attack on his brother, Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives, calling him several unprintable names in what appeared to be an escalation of an undisclosed family dispute.
The family tensions have unfolded against the backdrop of the political and legal troubles facing their father.
El-Rufai has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over allegations linked to his tenure as Kaduna governor. The former governor has denied wrongdoing.
Bashir’s comments add another layer to the increasingly public El-Rufai family drama, with his latest threat suggesting that his anger extends beyond the ongoing family disagreements to the APC and those he believes abandoned or turned against his father.
