Cameroon have won the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating Malawi 3-0 in the final in Rabat, Morocco.
The Indomitable Lionesses sealed the historic victory on Sunday, August 16, ending years of near misses to lift the continental title for the first time.
Marie Ngah Manga opened the scoring for Cameroon before adding a second goal to put her side firmly in control. Naomi Leslie Ndjoah Eto completed the scoring as Cameroon cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The triumph marks a significant milestone for Cameroon, who had previously reached the WAFCON final on three occasions but lost each time to Nigeria.
Cameroon’s success also ends Nigeria’s reign as African champions. The Super Falcons, who entered the tournament as defending champions, were eliminated by Cameroon in the quarter-finals.
For Malawi, reaching the final represented their best-ever performance in the competition, but they were unable to overcome a dominant Cameroonian side in the decisive encounter.
Cameroon’s victory adds another major chapter to the country’s women’s football history and establishes the Indomitable Lionesses as the new champions of Africa.
