Over the last two days, there have been different outbursts from all angles due to the recent rescheduling of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In a statement by the national chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC postponed the elections due to logistical issues. The chairman further revealed that bad weather also contributed to the disruption of the polls which was supposed to begin on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

BlackBox Nigeria can confirm that the INEC national commissioner in charge of Electoral Operations and Logistics is Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu.
Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu, a Professor of Political Science was the Dean, Faculty of Social Science at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was also special rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council while he also seats on the board of several Civil Society Groups.

In October 2018, Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu was named the head of INEC’s Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee. He replaced Amina Zakari who previously held sway in the unit.
Based on recent occurrences, Professor Ibeanu is the scapegoat of the backwash that greeted the general elections postponement.
