Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni loses father

Rufai Oseni, an anchor with Arise Television, has been thrown into mourning following the passing of his father.

In a tweet on Monday, the journalist announced the death of his father who he described as his “friend” and “world”.

Oseni then urged members of the public to allow him mourn his loss in privacy.

“I sadly announce the passing of my dear father and my friend. I loved him dearly. He was my world. Please respect my privacy at a time like this. Thank you,” he wrote.

It would be recalled that Oseni recently made headlines over his row with the police after he drove through the designated lane for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses in Lagos.

The journalist had alleged that a policeman pointed a gun at him before impounding his vehicle. A video of his heated face-off with the security operatives also surfaced on social media, and sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians.

He was later fined N70,000 for violating the Lagos State Transport Law 2018, and his vehicle was released to him.

After the traffic infraction drama was over, Oseni took to live television to apologise to all parties involved, saying he has learnt his lessons.
