Akpabio Unveils Full List Of 10th Senate Committees

The Senate president, Senator Godswill Akpabio has unveiled the full list of the 10th senate leadership and standing committees.

This move comes as part of the ongoing efforts to streamline the legislative process and foster effective governance.

Among the notable appointees are Sen. Aminu Tambuwal, who will chair the Housing committee, and Sen. Sani Musa, entrusted with the critical role of leading the Finance committee. Sen. Solomon Adeola has been assigned the crucial task of heading the Appropriations committee, ensuring prudent allocation of funds.

The Interior committee will be under the leadership of Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, while Sen. Godiya Akwashiki has been tasked with overseeing the Airforce committee. Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari will be at the helm of the Aviation committee, working towards the advancement of the aviation sector.

Other prominent appointments include Sen. Aliyu Wadada as chairman of the Public Accounts committee, Sen. Osita Izunaso heading the Capital Market committee, and Seriake Dickson leading the Ecology and Climate Change committee.

Sen. Jide Ipisagba will be responsible for the Petroleum Downstream committee, Sen. Shehu Kaka for the Special Duties committee, and Sen. Patrick Nwabueze for the Works committee, all of whom will play crucial roles in their respective areas of focus.

Sen. Abiru Tokunbo will chair the Banking committee, Sen. Isa Jubril will oversee the Customs committee, and Sen. Elisha Abbo will lead the Culture and Tourism committee.

Sen. Victor Umeh has been appointed to head the Diaspora committee, Sen. Lawan Usman will chair the Education committee, and Sen. Akintunde Yunus will be responsible for the Environment committee, taking charge of environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Sen. Ibrahim Bomai has been appointed to lead the FCT committee, while Sen. Abubakar Sani will oversee the Foreign Affairs committee. Sen. Banigo Harry will head the Health committee, and Sen. Abdul-aziz Yari will be responsible for the Water Resources committee.

Sen. Enyinaya Abaribe will take charge of the Power committee, and Sen. Aliyu Wammako will handle matters related to Foreign and Local Debts.

Sen. Adamu Aliero will chair the Land Transport committee, Sen. Gbenga Daniel will head the Navy committee, and Sen. Barinada Mpigi will oversee the Niger Delta committee, working towards the development and empowerment of the region.

Sen. Mohammed Monguno will be responsible for the Judiciary committee, while Sen. Yemi Adaramodu will lead the Youths and Sports committee, promoting youth engagement and the advancement of sports in the country.

Sen. Ireti Kingigbe will be heading the Women Affairs committee, championing gender equality and women’s rights, while Sen. Orji Kalu will oversee the Privatization committee.

Sen. Mustapha Saliu will chair the Agriculture committee, focusing on boosting agricultural productivity and food security, and Sen. Aliyu Bilbis will take charge of the Communications committee, driving advancements in the country’s communication sector.

Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong has been appointed to lead the NDDC committee, overseeing the development of the Niger Delta region. Sen. Titus Zam will head the Rules and Business committee, ensuring smooth legislative processes and adherence to parliamentary procedures.

Sen. Sunday Karimi will take charge of the Senate Services committee, while Sen. Okechukwu Ezea will be responsible for the Ethics and Public Petitions committee, addressing grievances and ensuring accountability.

Lastly, Sen. Shehu Buba has been entrusted with the important role of overseeing the National Security and Intelligence committee, working towards safeguarding the nation’s security interests.

These committee chairmen are expected to bring their expertise and dedication to the forefront, collaborating to address the diverse challenges and opportunities facing the nation.

With this new lineup, the Senate is poised to embark on a path of effective legislation and progress for the betterment of the country and its citizens.
