AGF Malami Uses Court To Halt NASS Investigation Of MainaGate
Reports gathered by BlackBox Nigeria confirms that the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has successfully barred the National Assembly from investigating developments relating to the re-emergence of Abdulrasheed Maina.
According to a Court injunction gotten from the Federal High Court, Abuja, lawmakers of both the Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives can no longer investigate activities relating to the return of Maina into the Federal Civil Service. The order was granted by Justice Binta Nyako
Recall that in the last quarter of 2017, Maina made several headlines after he was reportedly reinstated into the Federal Civil Service and posted to Ministry of Interior. Prior to his return, Maina was wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for an alleged mismanagement of Pensions Funds, when he headed the Board in 2013.
Before the Court order, the AGF, Malami alongside Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Danbazzau and Head of Service of the Federation had appeared before House Committee on public hearing on how Maina was reinstated in the Federal Civil Service. With this new order, no such Committee will be able to hold any investigative hearing.
This development is coming at a time reports are rife about the hijacking of the Federal Government under the Muhammadu Buhari-Administration by some powerful appointees simply referred to as ‘The Cabal’.
