World Cup Quarter-Final Ticket Prices Plunge Af
Ticket prices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final have fallen sharply following the elimination of co-hosts the United States and Portugal, with resale prices dropping by nearly 60 percent as fan demand weakened after the exits of two of the tournament’s biggest attractions.
According to a report published by Forbes, the decline affected the quarter-final scheduled for Los Angeles, where fans had anticipated a potential clash between the United States and Portugal before both nations were knocked out in the Round of 16.
The United States lost to Belgium, while Spain eliminated Portugal 1-0, bringing an end to Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup campaign.
Data from ticket marketplace SeatPick cited by Forbes showed that average “get-in” prices for World Cup quarter-final matches have dropped by more than 50 percent over the past three days, while the number of tickets available on the secondary market has risen significantly as sellers sought buyers.
The report attributed the decline largely to reduced demand following the departure of star players and host-nation interest.
The general resale market has also softened across the tournament. Ticket prices for several Round of 16 fixtures had already been trending downward in recent days, with analysts pointing to dynamic pricing, high initial costs and changing fan demand as key factors behind the decline.
Despite the recent drop, World Cup tickets remain among the most expensive in the tournament’s history.
Forbes reported that the cheapest available ticket for the July 19 final at MetLife Stadium was still priced at more than $9,300 on the resale market as of Tuesday.
