Nigerian music imprint sets Guinness World Record With Largest Orchestra at an Afrobeats Concert

Nigerian Music executive Damilola Joseph Akinwunmi also know as Dapper has set a Guinness World Record for the largest orchestra at an Afrobeats concert, assembling 85 musicians for a live orchestral performance in Lagos.

According to confirmation posted by the Guinness World Record, the record attempt took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Lagos, in December 2025, where the orchestra performed an original Afrobeats composition under the direction of a conductor.

The performance featured a lead singer, an accompanying choir, dancers, and the 85-member orchestra, all performing in sync to deliver a unique fusion of Afrobeats and classical orchestral music.

According to the organisers, the event demonstrated how Afrobeats can seamlessly blend with orchestral arrangements, highlighting the genre’s versatility while showcasing Nigerian musical creativity on the global stage.

The achievement adds another milestone to the growing international recognition of Afrobeats.
