President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the free formalisation of 250,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria as part of efforts to boost entrepreneurship and strengthen the nation’s small business sector.
The information was contained in a post made by Dada Olusegun, the special Adviser to the President on social media via his X handle on Saturday.
The initiative, to be implemented through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), will provide participating businesses with free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration, technical training and support services aimed at helping them grow and become more sustainable.
According to the announcement, beneficiaries will enjoy: Free CAC registration for their businesses; Technical and capacity-building training programmes; and bsiness support services designed to encourage and strengthen entrepreneurship.
The programme is expected to bring thousands of informal businesses into the formal economy, giving them better access to government interventions, financing opportunities and other business development initiatives.
Interested MSME operators have been advised to visit the SMEDAN platform and register for the opportunity.
