Pat Utomi says Labour Party will poll at least 15 votes in each polling unit

Political economist, Professor Pat Utomi has expressed confidence that the Labour Party (LP) would win the 2023 presidential elections.

It would be recalled that Utomi, who contested for the LP presidential ticket, had relinquished his bid to back the candidacy of a former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi who is now the party’s flagbearer.

In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Utomi said the LP has a better structure than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Labour Party has a super structure, much better than the structures APC and the PDP have,” he said.

“The Labour Party is built around the labour movement and a college of civil society organisations.

“With the structure that we have, I am guaranteeing that on the election day, in every polling station in this country, there are at least 15 people who are standing up for the third force to support the Labour party candidate.”

The political economist noted that the two major workers’ union — the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) — have political commissions in every state of the federation, adding that the party would mobilise people at next year’s polls to ensure that every polling station is covered.
