Lagos Diaspora for Hamzat 2027 Unveils Global Executive Team Ahead of 2027 Governorship Push

Diaspora based political support group, Lagos Diaspora for Hamzat 2027, has unveiled its Global Executive Team as part of efforts to strengthen international mobilisation for the governorship ambition of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 elections.

The organisation, headquartered in London, United Kingdom, said the appointments are aimed at expanding its global reach and coordinating support among Lagosians and supporters across the diaspora. The group also reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the programmes of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking on the development, the group’s Global Director General and Convener, Ayodeji Rilwan Tinubu, described the inauguration of the leadership structure as a strategic move to deepen grassroots mobilisation among Lagosians living abroad.

He said the executive team reflects the organisation’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness, and regional representation, with members drawn from the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and Nigeria.

According to the group, the appointments cover several directorates, including strategic mobilisation, women affairs, legal services, finance and fundraising, media and digital communications, protocol, welfare, diaspora mobilisation, planning, community engagement, and regional coordination.

Among those appointed are Julius Ilori as Director for the United States, Anuoluwapo Afuape as Director for Canada, Ambassador Rukayat Basaro as Director of Women Affairs, Alhaja Medina Sanusi as Global Ambassador, Akinsupo Morgan as Director of Strategic Mobilisation for Lagos, Enitan Jessica Oba as Secretary for Planning and Strategic Mobilisation in Lagos State, Kareem Onibudo as Director of Diaspora Mobilisation for the UK and Nigeria, Azeez Dasaolu as Adviser to the Global Executive Council, Taofeek Ajibike as Director of Diaspora Mobilisation for the United Kingdom, Adebosin Aderemi Olatunji as Director for South East England, Dr. Ayoade Adeyemi as Director of Events and Protocol for Canada, Adewale Omitiran as Director of Strategic Mobilisation for Canada, and Michael Ojobaro as Lagos West Coordinator of the Lagos Diaspora for Hamzat Footsoldiers.

The organisation said the appointments were based on leadership experience, commitment to progressive politics, and the ability of the appointees to coordinate mobilisation efforts in their respective jurisdictions.

Tinubu said members of the executive team have been tasked with expanding the group’s membership, strengthening diaspora participation, promoting civic and political engagement, building strategic partnerships, and improving communication between supporters at home and abroad.

He added that the establishment of country, regional, and functional directorates is intended to build a coordinated international network in preparation for the 2027 governorship election.

“The future of Lagos requires collective commitment from Lagosians both at home and in the diaspora. Our strength lies in our ability to organise, mobilise, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state. Today’s appointments represent another important step in building a global movement that will support the emergence of Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat as Governor of Lagos State while advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The group said more country chapters, regional coordinators, and grassroots engagement programmes will be announced in the coming months as part of its international expansion strategy.
