Mixed reactions have trailed the decision of a branch of popular restaurant, Chicken Republic to sack two security guards for dancing on duty.

As captured in a now-viral video, the duo got into the ‘Work and Happiness’ mood as they showed interesting dance steps to a popular song, apparently to entertain customers.

Little did the two young security officers know that their little stunt would mark the end of their stay at the popular restaurant, as they were served termination letters, a few days later.

Since the news broke out that the duo lost their jobs, Nigerians have taken to social media to share their differing views on the decision of the restaurant.

While some opined that a job without happiness is fake and the two young men should not have been sacked in the first place, others defended the action of their former employers.

Here are some of the reactions gathered from Twitter:

@iamseunalaofin wrote: “If I am a restaurant and I see this kind of activity I would stand up and dance with them. With am I using all the energy from Fearless energy drink for🤣🤣. Happiness is a good fever, and chicken republic needs to learn!!”

@akindasamayowa1 argued: “It’s a sack offence, you cannot be a security personnel and be dancing on duty.”

@CrownprinceCom2 noted: “I still don’t believe that Chicken republic sack this two young man .. Job without happiness is fake.”

@A_Blackwoman said: “Y’all dragging chicken republic but your house help sleeps on the kitchen floor, only eat what’s left after a week, wears rags, literally shivers when he/she hears the sound of your voice and doesn’t even attend the least public school… Hypocrites!”

@Benjaminxx lamented: “For 20k salary wey dem dey pay nai dem still dey sack person!!! Chicken republic sha What should have been used for PR pure customer entertainment Dunno if it’s true though”

@Dhameelarey opined: “They are not serious with their jobs!”

Meanwhile after their sack, the duo — banking on their new fame — created a TikTok account in order to bolster their dancing career, and have garnered over 16k followers within the first 24 hours of opening the account.
