Popular Islamic cleric and founder of Hizbullah International Outreach Ministry, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna, has died.
His family announced his passing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, expressing gratitude for his life and submitting to what they described as the will of Allah.
In a statement, the family and members of the Lagos-based Islamic organisation mourned the loss of their spiritual leader.
“With a deep sense of loss and total submission to the will of Allah, the family and the entire members of Hizbullahi International Prayer Outreach Ministry announce the passing of their beloved Grand Amir, Sheikh Sirajudeen Akanni Asukuna.
“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, have mercy on his soul, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
According to the family, the late cleric will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Muslim Cemetery in Mowe-Ofada, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The statement concluded with the Quranic verse: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return” (Qur’an 2:156).
Sheikh Asukuna was widely known as the founder and spiritual leader of the Lagos-based Hizbullah International Outreach Ministry, where he devoted decades to Islamic preaching and religious outreach.
