The race to the Alagbaka Government House in Ondo State has become more interesting with business heavyweight, Jimoh Ibrahim showing interest in the gubernatorial race of the Sunshine State.
The All Progressives Congress has also recorded about 30 aspirants while their bitter rivals, People’s Democratic Party is having struggles handpicking the candidate of Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
According to the Punch, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim on Thursday obtained the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form to vie for the governorship seat of Ondo State.
He was the first aspirant to pick the form from the factional National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff. While speaking at the occasion, Ibrahim promised to defray the salary of workers in the state within 100 days.
He stated that the Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has no locus in law to lay claim to the chairmanship of the party. He said that Sheriff is known in law having taken over from Alhaji Adamu Muazu who resigned as national chairman before the expiration of his tenure.
Jimoh stated that he would better the lots of the citizens of the state by ensuring prompt payment of their salary.
He described governors who owe workers salary as people without initiative, adding that Ondo State has over 10 solid minerals which he would tap to develop the state.
