Popular Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66.

His daughter, Kaira Taiwo, confirmed the actor’s death during an Instagram live session on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The development came days after the actor’s daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed publicly for medical assistance for their father, who was battling stage 4 cancer.

On Monday, August 17, the daughters took to social media to seek medical advice and possible treatment options for the veteran actor.

Kaira had disclosed that doctors treating Ogogo could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the severity of his condition. She said the family was exploring alternative treatment options, including specialised medical procedures and traditional remedies.

She also clarified that the family was not seeking financial donations but information on treatments that could improve their father’s condition.

Lima, in a separate appeal, revealed that some hospitals had reportedly declined to treat Ogogo because of the advanced stage of his illness.

The actor’s death marks the end of a career spanning decades in the Nigerian film industry, where he earned recognition for his performances in Yoruba-language productions.

Ogogo’s death is expected to draw tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
