Nigerian’s CAFAwards2020 Delegates Come Under Fire For Not Voting For Super Falcon Striker, Asisat Oshoala
Nigerians on Tuesday were in a frenzy mood after it’s top Female striker, Asisat Oshoala emerged as the African Women’s Player of the Year for the 4th time, without anyone guessing if Nigerian delegates voted in her favour.
In an info-graphic released by CAF, organisers of the yearly award, it was showed that out of the five delegates, none voted for Asisat as No 1 in the Women category. This development has caused an uproar on the social media as football lovers are criticising the pattern at which the delegates voted, especially a former captain of the Super Falcon, Perpetual Nkwocha who voted Ikorodu born Barcelona Women Football star as 5th Best in Africa.
CAF also revealed that Ahmed Fresh (member of NFF Technical Committee) didn’t include Asisat in his voting, while journalist Osasu Obayiwana voted her as 3rd best as Chisom Mbonu and Tunde Adelakun voted for the former FC Robo star as 2nd best.
BlackBox Nigeria gathers that Super Falcons’ former captain, Perpetual is the most criticised person among the delegates as she was the first to run to the stage to congratulate Asisat when she was announced as African’s Best Female Footballer of the Year and also boasted about her on her Facebook page with her picture.
