Nigeria Customs Service Launches Probe into Alleged Bribery Incident Involving a Female Officer

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has initiated an investigation following the circulation of a viral video capturing a female officer allegedly demanding a ₦5000 bribe from a passenger at the New Terminal within the departure hall of Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos

In an official statement, the NCS disclosed that preliminary findings confirm the officer’s inappropriate request for ₦5000 in exchange for expeditious processing of customs procedures.

The implicated officer is verified to be a legitimate member of the Nigeria Customs Service, duly assigned to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Area Command.

The NCS reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent and accountable customs operation, emphasizing that such behavior is entirely inconsistent with the core values of the service.

Encouraging passengers and the public to promptly report instances of misconduct or corruption, the NCS emphasized the crucial role these reports play in upholding the integrity of the service and ensuring officers adhere to the highest ethical standards.
