Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has won his polling unit in the ongoing 2026 governorship election, defeating his major rival, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeleke polled 421 votes at Polling Unit 009, Abogunde/Sagba, in Ede North Local Government Area, according to results announced by the Presiding Officer, Adebimpe Susan Dunsin.
Oyebamiji secured 29 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, received one vote. The figures were also reported by other news outlets covering the election.
Of the 1,082 registered voters at the polling unit, 457 cast their ballots before voting ended at about 4:15 p.m.
Adeleke had earlier arrived at the polling unit at about 8:35 a.m., where he was accredited before casting his vote.
Speaking to journalists after voting, the governor expressed confidence in his chances of retaining the governorship seat and urged voters across the state to participate in the election.
He also called on voters and political supporters to remain peaceful and vigilant throughout the voting, sorting, counting and collation processes.
Following the announcement of the result, Adeleke’s supporters at the polling unit erupted in celebration, chanting the governor’s campaign slogan, “Imole.”
The 2026 Osun governorship election is a three-way contest largely centred on Adeleke, Oyebamiji and Salaam, with Adeleke seeking another term in office after winning the 2022 election.
