Miyetti Allah Leader Arraigned for Allegedly Supporting Ethnic Militia Group

Bello Bodejo, a prominent leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore group, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations of establishing and supporting an ethnic militia group known as Kungiya Zaman Lafiya.
The arraignment which took place on Friday, followed a three-count charge filed against him by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), accusing him of violating the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Security operatives arrested Bodejo on January 23 at Miyetti Allah’s office in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State after he inaugurated a vigilance group.
It was reported that the federal government arraigned him on March 12 where he was subsequently detained for seven days pending the filing of application before the court.
During the proceedings, Bodejo pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him. Subsequently, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered that he be further detained in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) pending the commencement of trial.
The court adjourned the case till May 27 for the trial to begin.
