Minister Tours MKO Abiola Stadium, Promises Improved Maintenance
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare today visited the M.K.O Abiola stadium Abuja and toured facilities at the stadium.
Accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Adesola Olusade and other Directors of the Ministry, the Minister toured facilities at the Main bowl of the Stadium, the Velodrome, the Package B – Multi-purpose sports hall, the Athletes hostel, media centre amongst others.
Speaking at the end of his tour, Mr Dare expressed satisfaction at the state of facilities and promised to improve the maintenance culture. He stated his resolve to devise innovative means of generating revenue, including considering the possibility of utilizing advertising on the Football pitch as it is done in National Stadia of other climes.
He stated his resolve to revamp the Football pitch before the end of the year barring no funding constraints.
Mr Dare joined kid Badminton players to train briefly, encouraging them and other athletes to put in their best and do the nation proud, promising to do his utmost to improve motivation.
The Minister congratulated 8-year old Stephanie Onusiriuka who won gold medal in gymnastics at the Africa Club Championships in Pretoria stating that she is the pride of the Nation and he looks forward to more laurels from Nigerian athletes during his tenure.
