Lukaku likely to dump Chelsea, considers possible Inter return

Romelu Lukaku’s lawyer will meet with Inter Milan on Tuesday to discuss a potential move back to the Serie A powerhouse, according to reports in Italy.

Last summer, the Belgian moved to Stamford Bridge for a record fee of £97.5million. In a controversial interview with Sky in Italy last December, he acknowledged his wish to return to Inter in the future.

Afterwards the interview, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta says they are not desperate for his return, but he didn’t rule out a future move back to the San Siro.

Lukaku failed to match expectations with the outrageous price paid for his transfer this season, therefore, limiting his game time under Thomas Tuchel. He finished the season as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals, although.

With the imminent departure of Ivan Perisic, Inter are in search of a forward this summer and Marotta said in an interview that he “hopes” Paulo Dybala will sign for them after leaving Juventus upon the expiry of his contract.

The return of Lukaku might be the end of their search, as he is keen on a move away from the Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have identified Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele as a replacement, should in case the Belgian leaves.
