#LightUpIkorodu To #ReadUpIkorodu: Rep. Jimi Benson Distributes 1,000 Solar Lamps to Ikorodu Secondary School Students

 

In his continued efforts at mitigating everyday challenges of residents of Ikorodu, Rep. Babajimi Benson, House of Representatives member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency has distributed 1,000 solar lamps to 20 selected secondary schools in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

This effort, aimed at improving educational outcomes and promoting clean energy, marks another milestone in Rep. Benson’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents.

The distribution event was made possible through a strategic partnership with SCI Altar Energy and Access Bank. Other key supporters included the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rite Foods, and Airtel.

Rep. Benson, who has previously facilitated the distribution of solar street lights and home solar systems, emphasized the importance of this initiative in targeting young people. “Providing these solar lamps to students is a step towards ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed academically and lead healthier lives,” he stated.

According to the Constituency office of the lawmaker, the solar lamps are expected to benefit students in several ways amongst which are to light up their homes for better visibility, assisting them in completing their homework and assignments,  encouraging lifelong study habits and improving overall school performance.

The solar distribution to schools will also promote the use of clean and sustainable energy and further ensure a healthier and more environmentally friendly living environment in Ikorodu and its environs.

– Maya Community Junior Grammar School

– Isiwu Senior Grammar School

– Community Senior Secondary School, Imota

– Ifelodun Junior High School, Oke Agbo, Imota

– Gberigbe Community Senior Secondary School

– Ikorodu Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu

– Elepe Senior School, Elepe

– Luwasa Senior High School, Ijede

– Abule-Eko Community Junior High School, Ijede

– Yewa Senior Grammar School, Aga, Ikorodu

– Majidun Community Senior Secondary School, Ikorodu

– Ipakodo Senior Secondary School, Ipakodo

– Yewa Junior Secondary School, Isawo, Ikorodu

Speaking at the event, representatives from the partnering organizations expressed their commitment to supporting educational and environmental initiatives. “Our collaboration with Rep. Benson on this project underscores our dedication to empowering the next generation through sustainable solutions,” said a spokesperson from SCI Altar Energy.
