A graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga, has emerged as the institution’s Best Graduating Student, attributing his success to financial support received through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Oladepo, who earned a Bachelor of Technology degree with a First Class honours and a cumulative grade point average of 4.89 out of 5.0, shared the milestone in a post on X shared on Wednesday.

“I’m honored to let you know that I am the Best Graduating Student of LAUTECH. Your loans made it possible,” he wrote, directly acknowledging NELFUND for its role in his academic journey.

The post, which included his graduation photos, quickly gained traction online, drawing over 400,000 views alongside thousands of likes, reposts, and comments as users congratulated him and highlighted the impact of student loan schemes on access to higher education.

NELFUND, a federal government-backed initiative, was introduced to provide financial assistance to Nigerian students, with the aim of reducing barriers to tertiary education and improving academic outcomes.

Oladepo’s achievement has since been cited by supporters of the scheme as a testament to the potential benefits of sustained investment in student financing.
