Yul Edochie Claims Peter Obi can never be President except with APGA

Actor Yul Edochie has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that Peter Obi’s presidential ambitions are tied to his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He claimed Obi’s political fortunes is tied with APGA due to the earlier promise made when he was the governor of Anambra state.

In a post on his official X handle, Edochie alleged that Obi had, in the past, pledged unwavering loyalty to APGA, vowing before the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and the people of Anambra State that he would never leave the party. According to him, Obi had declared he would “die with APGA” and even invoked consequences on himself should he defect.

Edochie argued that Obi’s decision to leave the party explains what he described as the former Anambra governor’s lack of political success in recent years.

He further claimed that despite Obi’s popularity in the 2023 general elections, others benefitted electorally from his influence while he failed in his own presidential bid.

The actor also dismissed Obi’s current political alignment, describing his reported association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “a waste of time.”

Looking ahead, Edochie suggested that Obi still has a pathway to the presidency in 2031, but only if he returns to APGA.

Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has not publicly responded to Edochie’s remarks but the post has generated mixed reactions online from supporters.
