Late Oba Oyekan’s Daughter Excited as She Resumes Duty at Lagos Assembly

These are really good times for Princess Omolara Oyekan Olumegbon, the daughter of late Oba of Lagos, Adeyinka Oyekan and young widow of the former head of the Idejo White Cap chiefs, Fatai Olumegbon as her political journey progresses.
The young politician was amongst the 40 new and returning legislators who have just resumed duties at the Lagos State  House of Assembly following the convening of the 10th assembly.

Omolara Oyekan who is representing Lagos Island Constituency 1 takes over from the immediate past deputy speaker, Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni who has won a seat at the senate to represent Lagos Central. It would be recalled Eshilokun represented the constituency between 1999 and 2003 after which he left following his election as the Local Government Chairman. He would however return after his tenure to represent the constituency for two consecutive terms before moving over to the Nigerian Senate.

BlackBox Nigeria had earlier reported that following the reconvening of the house on Tuesday, Mudasiru Obasa representing Agege Constituency 1 was returned as Speaker for the third consecutive time while the younger sister of the Oniru of Iru, Oba Gboalahan Lawal, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda emerged Deputy Speaker taking over from Eshilokun who held the position in the 8th and 9th assemblies.

For the other major positions in the assembly, Noheem Adams of Eti Osa Constituency 1 emerged the Majority Leader while Adedamola Richard Kasumu of Ikeja 1 was voted deputy.
Setonji David of Badagry Constituency 2 emerged as the Chief Whip.
